From Mathematics through Movement to
Our Story
The beginning of our collaboration was featured in an article by Emory News in April 2022, where we shared how our interdisciplinary work, combining mathematics and movement, is transforming the learning experience.
You can read about the inception of Move Your Math and its impact on students here.

In the article, we reflect on the early days of blending dance with mathematical concepts. What started as an experimental approach to teaching dynamical systems through movement quickly grew into a vibrant, transdisciplinary project. Our goal was to make abstract mathematical ideas more tangible by engaging students physically, allowing them to experience the concepts firsthand.

MathLEAP has since evolved into a full initiative that goes beyond traditional teaching methods, incorporating collaborative research and creative exploration. By combining math and movement, we aim to inspire students to think critically, connect with the material on a deeper level, and foster a sense of community that bridges the gap between the sciences and the arts.

You can also listen to our story and learn more about MathLEAP’s activities in this podcast episode, where we discuss the challenges and rewards of bringing mathematics to life through movement.
